Vinkocide™ CMI 1.5

Vinkocide™ CMI 1.5 is a broad-spectrum preservative based on a 1.5% blend of isothiazolinones CMIT/MIT (5-Chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-Methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one), optimized for water-based and water-soluble systems. This product is formulated to protect against microbial contamination (bacteria, mold, and yeast), maintain physical and chemical stability, and extend product shelf life under typical storage and usage conditions

Composition and Mechanism

  • Active Ingredients: CMIT/MIT (5-Chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and 2-Methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one) at a concentration of 1.5%.
  • Mode of Action: CMIT/MIT penetrates microbial cells, binds to essential cellular components, and inactivates enzymes/substrates—preventing microbial adaptation and resistance to preservatives over time
  • Free from Concerning Substances: Contains no formaldehyde or formaldehyde releasers, no phenolic compounds, and no volatile organic compounds (VOCs
  • Broad-Spectrum Efficacy: Effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, molds, and yeasts. Typical MIC values for many target strains range from 9–11.5 ppm; some yeast/mold strains are more sensitive (e.g., Pullularia at 2.3 ppm).
  • Recommended Dosage: 0.1–0.25% by weight
  • Effective pH Range: 3.0–8.5. Excessively alkaline conditions may reduce CMIT/MIT stability.
  • Temperature Considerations: Avoid exposure above 40–50°C, as elevated temperatures accelerate active ingredient degradation and reduce preservative efficacy
